The biggest bottle of Ta’if Parfum is unveiled!
posted on June 8th, 2010 by ormonde jayne in Perfume
As an avid collector of miniature flacons of perfume since I was a young girl, I also have a huge admiration for the giant flacons that Chanel & Dior have used in their adverts for Chance and J’adore & have had a yearning for one of my own for a long time! And now after all these years … we have arrived! Three months for craftspeople to make it here in England and some convincing arguments to justify it, it has been unveiled this week onto the ground floor of Harrods- just in time to celebrate 5 years since the launch of Ta’if!

Ta’if is undoubtedly our most popular scent, especially in the summer months. Visiting the dusty mountain top town of Ta’if in Saudia Arabia where the plantations are, it is hard to believe anything so beautiful could grow in this harsh climate. The Ta’if rose buds can only be picked for one month in the year in April & they have to be picked before dawn. Adding to these constraints, there is the bizarre combination of rose-eating baboons & porcupines that are competing for our buds!

- Ta’if plantations
I have added dates and saffron, freesia & pink pepper, broom & amber to make this intoxicating flamboyant sophisticated scent. If you can get to Harrods to see the giant bottle, do tell us what you think! Incidentally, for anyone living in London – you can catch a taxi for free today if you sign the NHS “Life for Life” register & become an organ donor. Just look out for the special cabs with ODR on them!

New Maison uncovered!

The tarpaulin is finally off the gorgeous new Louis Vuitton super store around the corner from the boutique on Bond Street. We have all been waiting patiently & have just over a week to go! The new flagship store will take over the Maison and there will be three whole floors of Louis Vuitton! We will wait till May 28th but I think there might be a bit of mayhem!

Our new neighbours in Mayfair

The Royal Arcade boutique has been particularly busy this month with the launch of our new service Perfume Portraits and a week long press party with far too much champagne…as well as a gorgeous happy herd of elephants parading in Mayfair & Green Park!

The lovely Alexia Inge from Cult Beauty came by for her Portrait and writes about it here and ended up loving the dark side of mysterious Ormonde Woman! Mademoiselle Robot another very stylish beauty blogger, fell for Tiare which seems to be the most popular amongst beauty editors at the moment. It was great to meet Zara Rabinowicz from Kiss & Make Up, a beauty & technology writer who loved Ta’if and the London Make Up Girl who was just great!
After reading about all these Perfume Portrait experiences don’t forget to book your own complimentary appointment! You will receive a complimentary 2mls sample of your perfect scent & you can have your Portraits taken either at our new store at Harrods on the ground floor’s Black Perfumery Hall or the flagship at Old Bond Street. See you soon!
