Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park introduces Isfarkand
posted on January 17th, 2012 by Ormonde Jayne in Perfume
Everyone at Ormonde Jayne Perfumery is over the moon with our new collaboration with Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London.
A full range of Isfarkand products (including Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Body Lotion and Soap) is now available in all rooms and suites in this outstanding hotel.
I have been asked about the choice of scent for the Mandarin Oriental and I think Isfarkand is timeless in much the same way as the Mandarin Orientals that I have visited in Paris, Munich and Bangkok, the combination of masculine and feminine sides, and also they are both striking yet incredibly sensual. But above all, both the Mandarin Oriental & Isfarkand are both utterly habit-forming!
The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park are celebrating the arrival of Ormonde Jayne with a ‘Scented Stay’ package for guests who stay throughout the month of February! You will receive an Ormonde Jayne TA’if Scented Candle and you are invited to a Perfume Portrait at either Harrods (a 3 minute walk from the Mandarin Oriental) or at the Ormonde Jayne flagship boutique in Sloane Square.
However, if you haven’t yet been to the Mandarin Oriental, you might never leave! It really is London’s most prestigious address. The world-famous Spa in the basement is impossible to describe without dozens of superlatives but it transports you further away from the centre of London than one could imagine! The signature “Jewel in the Park” treatment is outstanding with the most professional therapists I have ever met. And then hours later when you return to earth, the superchic bar and two restaurants Bar Boulud, London and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal really do make you have to consider leaving at all. In the morning you can wake up to Hyde Park and Royal Cavalry riding past right outside your window.
…and of course a bathroom filled with Isfarkand goodies!
Since the launch of Isfarkand in 2005 in the Ormonde Jayne boutique in Mayfair, we have seen hundreds of Isfarkand clients who are simply addicted to its drydown of cedar, moss and vetiver! Will Smith (who coincidentally often stays at the Mandarin Oriental while in London) orders bottles regularly and one gentleman came to London from Edinburgh especially to buy Isfarkand!
Isfarkand EDP starts with bright top notes of Mandarin and lime and they slowly expose a heart of pure pink pepper, but its drydown is really unforgettable!
For our perfumistas, here are two reviews from Fragrance Bouquet’s review of Isfarkand and Sniffapalooza’s feature by Michael W. Davis “A Tale of Two Cities”.
Please do add your own review in the comments of Isfarkand and the The MAndarin Oriental too…we would love to hear it!
“For me, Isfarkand begins with smoke, not tobacco smoke, but rather the smoke of burning aromatic grasses. Behind these hypnotizing, grey tendrils of smoke, there is the most addictive resin to be discovered. And then suddenly, a blast of citrus finally hits me – lime and mandarin, slightly sweet as well as fresh and green all at the same time. This freshness is atypical of most male scents out there: there is no synthetic undertone. This smells so beautiful and natural, that I feel like I am momentarily transported to the side of a pool on a bright sunny day, coctail in hand (Cabana boys optional).” Read more
“Isfarkand is a scent that befits a legend. It begins with a hushed calm; a clean scent framed around fiery heart of pink pepper that burns like
a passionate kiss. Lime, mandarin and bergamot provide a brief citrus introduction before making hasty flight. Cedar, vetiver and moss add a dry, arid feel like the gentle desert breeze blowing through Isfahan and Samarkand. Isfarkand is perfect for all seasons. It provides light, cool refreshment in the summer and peppery warmth in the winter. Like the hot and cold nature of love, Isfarkand can feel like the cold, icy stare of a Mongol ruler or the hot, passionate kiss of unrequited love.” Read More

Ormonde Jayne Perfumery opens in Istanbul this week!
posted on December 25th, 2011 by Ormonde Jayne in Perfume
Ormonde Jayne is delighted to announce the fifth new point of sale this year in Istanbul.

At La Déesse, which is one of the first of its kind in Turkey, you will be able to find the full range of Ormonde Jayne Parfums and Eau de Parfums as well as several other niche perfumers including Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Keiko Mecheri and Robert Piguet.
La Déesse Parfumerie is the brand new creation of its owners Birgül Ulucan Öztürk and the perfumer Ilgım S. Deliloğluit and it is truly stunning and original!
La Déesse is in the chic neighbourhood of Nistanstasi which has some of the most stunning Art Nouveau buildings in Istanbul and is super hip and lively.
Istanbul has always been one of my all-time favourite cities and you really do feel like right in the middle of east and west, as well as history and the future. Climbing in the hills around the Golden Horn and looking around at the stunning view of the Bosphorus and its many minarets, it is a breathtakingly beautiful city! This, by the way, is a city for Orris Noir – there is something that makes me continually surprised when I am in Istanbul that seems to goes well with the complex character of Orris Noir! Orris Noir incidentally will be January’s monthly Ormonde Jayne promotion so that means a complimentary purse spray of Orris Noir will be included with any purchase of Orris Noir Parfum or Orris Noir Eau de Parfum.
We went earlier to Istanbul earlier this month and stayed three nights at the fabulous A’jia Hotel with all its pasha glory and with the most stunning enormous Ottoman bathroom with a view right out onto the Bosphorus – heaven! Earlier this summer we stayed a night the equally delightful Hotel Ibrahim Pasha in the historical district of Pashaheddin which has an astonishing view of the Blue Mosque from it’s gorgeous roof bar and if you go in winter there is this lovely scent of woodsmoke from the roaring fire in the lobby in winter.
So 2011 has been a great year of expansion for Ormonde Jayne and we are now in Fortnum & Mason in London, Zurich, Brussels, Dusseldorf and Istanbul! And The Times of London this week judged Ormonde Jayne’s new Solid Perfume in Frangipani to be their favourite solid perfumes in their Beauty Jury column! We are all delighted!
So with one week left of 2011, we would like to wish you all a wonderful happy healthy successful 2012 from all of us at Ormonde Jayne Perfumery.

Ta’if Rose meets English Rose
posted on December 15th, 2011 by Ormonde Jayne in Perfume
A wonderful evening of chocolates and perfume with our great neighbours in The Royal Arcade, Charbonnel et Walker. Adam the manager at Charbonnel and I hosted an evening at their delectable chocolatiers opposite Ormonde Jaynes Mayfair boutique last week with a fantastic friendly group of people. The whole evening passed by in a flash of English Violet Creams, Rose truffles and candied orange peel to mention a few…
We carefully chose six perfumes for this evening Orris Noir, Tolu, Ormonde Woman, Ormonde Man, Osmanthus and our gourmand scent Ta’if. The pairings worked their magic and if you are in The Royal Arcade in Mayfair, do go and try some of them!
I think my favourite was pairing Orris Noir, (the spicy oriental with pink pepper, davana, pimento, myrrh, coriander seed & black iris) with Charbonnel et Walker’s Port and Cranberry Truffle! The luscious rich dark chocolate is indeed exceptionally silky and the combination of Port and Cranberry doubled with Orris Noir was explosive!
Charbonnel et Walker is London’s oldest chocolatier and has an amazing history. One of the most remarkable things, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, is that they have been trading right here in Mayfair since 1875 with encouragement from King Edward VII. Their chocolate is truly exceptional and like Ormonde Jayne, have never compromised on quality!
With the run up to Christmas if you are still looking for the perfect gift and short on time, our lovely store manageress Natalie is always willing to offer suggestions and we can also include a handwritten card with deliveries. Also, all online purchases made before December 20 will include a complimentary Ormonde Jayne Hydrating Bath & Shower Crème, so let’s get the party started!

And if you love Scottish cashmere and are a fan of Ormonde Man and Ormonde Woman you might like to enter the wonderful Christmas prize draw at Brora. The prize is a spectacular 12 days of Christmas including afternoon tea for two, a wonderful hamper of smoked Scottish goodies from Inverawe, Charbonnel et Walker truffles, Brora cashmere sets and a bottle of Pure Parfum Ormonde Woman, a bottle of EDP in Ormonde Man and a box of travel purse sprays. What more can you add?
Happy Christmas!
