"Not a forest per se - a diorama of a forest. The ground is soft brown felt, the sky black velvet studded here and there with tiny rhinestones. The trees, carefully constructed and shaped by the artist, are adorned with genuine fir needles, sharp and waxy. The deep green scent cannot be confined to the open tableau. The moon, tucked into a darkened corner of the shadowbox, is a gray-streaked button of mother of pearl."
